Musical Guests Announced for NBA All-Star Weekend
The NBA has announced the musical guests that are set to perform during the All-Star Weekend.
Given the lack of interest this year in the Slam Dunk Contest, the NBA chose to bring in some big names to get the party started on Saturday evening. Both Flo Rida and will.i.am will perform prior to the event.
On Sunday, Feb. 26, Mary J. Blige will be performing the National Anthem before the All-Star Game. This makes perfect sense, and she will perform it beautifully.
Pittbull and Ne-Yo will be perform at half-time. Given their recent popularity, this makes sense as well.
The league’s choice in selecting an entertainer to kick off the pre-game activities is much more bewildering.
After Nicki Minaj’s on-stage “exorcism” at the Grammy Awards on Sunday left most of the world too terrified to go to sleep that night, the NBA has announced that she will be opening this year’s All-Star Game. She is slated to sing a medley of her songs as the players are announced.
Minaj is certainly an interesting choice, to say the least, given all the backlash and controversy surrounding her incredibly bizarre Grammy performance.
But perhaps that was the intent.
I just hope that this time, we won’t have nightmares afterward.
