Penn State Baseball to Wear “JVP” on Caps to Honor Late Joe Paterno
The Pennsylvania State Universty baseball team will pay tribute to the university’s former head football coach Joe Paterno this season by wearing caps with Paterno’s initials JVP stitched into the side. Click here to see a picture of the caps.
Paterno, the winningest coach in major football history, passed away in late January due to complications stemming from lung cancer treatment.
He was fired as head coach in November in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal and proceeded to donate another $100,000 to the university less than two months later.
Penn State men’s and women’s basketball teams added a black band to their respective jerseys following Paterno’s passing, and it’s great to see the baseball team follow suit.
The Nittany Lions open their baseball season with a game tonight at 7:30 PM against Seton Hall in St. Petersburg.
