Thierry Henry wants to add 5-story, $400K fish tank to London home

International soccer star Thierry Henry is known as being a little bit of an odd ball, and by some accounts, a drama queen.

After a nice second stint with his original team, the Arsenal Gunners, Henry is again on the minds of soccer fans around the planet. He’s just enough on the minds of fans for this story to resonate and make people realize just how unreasonable and bizarre Henry truly is.

In short, Thierry Henry likes fish much more than you and I. Much more.

The French footballer has plans to add a 5-story fish tank to his new, renovated home in North London. The tank could be worth upwards of $400 thousand and will hold up to 5,500 gallons of water at any one time.

The entire “tank” will be made up of four different tanks– one anchored to each floor– and will be easier to clean and maintain due to the separation between tanks.

Well, great, I’m glad that efficiency was considered here, I was worried.

This type of utter excess is the reason why people turn their noses up at professional athletes and their lifestyles, and, in large part, are not as willing to accept a sport like soccer as it tries to make a mark on the sports landscape here in the US.

Thierry Henry is an international star who deserves to live his life as he wishes, but a 5-story fish tank which wastes that much water– and associated resources– on a monhly basis just seems out-of-control.

What is he compensating for here? I had to ask.

It’s all in the eyes of the beholder I suppose, and Theirry Henry will have plenty of fish to behold if this monstrosity comes to be.
