UPDATE: Tim Tebow Trade to the New York Jets is Official
UPDATE: The New York Jets finalize the deal with Denver Broncos for Tim Tebow. Adam Schefter says the Jets agreed to pay half of the $5 million in compensation. That had been the original sticking point.
According to a tweet from NFL insider Adam Schefter, Tim Tebow is now being given the option to choose his own destiny. Will it be the New York Jets as reported or will the Jacksonville Jaguars swoop in and grab their man?
Had New York just read Tebow’s contract before pulling the trigger on deal earlier today none of this would be happening, but it seems when it comes to the Jets, nothing is easy.
The deal that would have brought Tebow to the Jets will be nullified because of language written into his contract that paid Tebow guaranteed money upfront. New York balked at the notion, thus killing the deal
In my opinion is he will end up playing in Florida which always has been the polarizing quarterbacks first choice. Tebow has been open about his desire to play for a team in the Sunshine State. It would make sense for both parties. Tebow goes home and the Jags get the quarterback they so desperately covet.
I never thought Tebow in a Jets uniform made much sense for either side and I truly believe it would only further stunt the development of Mark Sanchez. Plus, do the Jets really need any additional media coverage this season?
In addition, New York still has plenty of issues to work out within their locker room without adding the distraction of the inevitable QB controversy and Tebowmania.
Can this story take any more twists and turns? Actually, yes it can and I’m sure this saga is far from over.
