Video: Shaquille O’Neal Appearance On Conan O’Brien
Shaquille O’Neal dropped by Conan O’Brien Tuesday night and discussed a couple topics with the late night host. First, O’Neal told Conan that he is retiring the name “Shaq” because he is pursuing his doctorate degree. He said he doesn’t want to be called Dr. Shaq.
Personally, I think Dr. Shaq is a cool name. That would certainly alleviate any concerns people would have meeting with a doctor of any time. Even if he’s not a medical doctor, Dr. Shaq is still the best doctor name this side of a Will Ferrell sketch.
Shaq also discussed his epic “Rah” defense. This involves sending all the defenders on the basketball court at the dribbler. The defenders begin to scream, which frightens the dribbler, who turns the ball over.
I’m not sure how practical this is, but if it works while coaching little kids, more power to you. I’m more partial to a good 2-3 zone, but hey. Shaq was the one who played in the NBA. According to him, since I never played professional basketball, I have no room to discuss it critically.
