God bless cameras in the locker room. After the Kansas Jayhawks had a thrilling 60-57 victory over the North Carolina State Wolfpack, tv cameras were packed into the Kansas locker room. After head coach Bill Self delivered his postgame speech, he mentioned four of his players had to go take leak for drug testing.
The fact that this was mentioned on television is just superb. Although having NCAA Tournament games start late at night, some good can come out of them. Basically, you can air almost uncut locker room talk. This certainly fits the mold.
Hopefully everything went alright for the four players that were called to meet the drug tester. Nothing would be worse than a suspension when you just have qualified for the Elite Eight. In fact, I can not imagine how embarrassing that would be. Your coach tells you to go take a leak on national TV and then you fail the resulting test.
I’m going to be disappointed if every postgame speech doesn’t end with that phrase. My hopes are way too high right now.
