Video: 86-year-old Gymnast Dazzles on the Parallel Bars
Sometimes when I wake up in the morning my back aches and I move a bit slow. I think to myself, “So this is what it’s like to get old.” Well, after I watched the video of 86-year-old Johanna Quaas, I might have to rethink my opinion on what it means to be old.
I always thought of gymnasts as young, fit and possessing superior strength. I was right on two of the three. The silver-haired athlete displays superior upper body and core strength while amazing the crowd with the poise and grace of a 20-year-old.
She moves on those bars better than I can walk up stairs.
Quaas is another example of just how amazing human beings can be and the incredible things they are capable of. She defies all logic when it comes to age and fitness. In a way she reminds me of elderly fitness guru, Jack LaLanne.
LaLanne was a health and nutritional expert. He was often referred to as “The Godfather of Fitness”. You probably know him better as the man pitching the juice machine in those infomercials at 2 am.
Lalanne was still as healthy as an ox right up until he died at the age of 96.
It appears Quaas has followed in his footsteps. I wonder if she will be coming out with a juicer too? Now excuse me while I go ice my hands…all this typing is making my fingers swell.
Enjoy the video!
