Photo: Nerlens Noel Chooses Kentucky By Shaving Logo Into His Head
College basketball fans across the country waited with bated breath today to finally find out where the consensus No. 1 and No. 2 players in the country, Las Vegas’ Shabazz Muhammad and Oregon native Nerlens Noel would choose to play their collegiate basketball.
During a special on ESPNU, Muhammad was the first to go and made the announcement that he would be playing for Ben Howland and the UCLA Bruins next fall, choosing the school over Kentucky and Duke.
ESPN had Muhammad ranked No. 2 to Nerlens Noel’s No.1, and if you judge their announcements against one another, Noel definitely came out on top.
Muhammad’s plain jane announcement was respectful and first-class, but Noel stole the show by shaving the University of Kentucky logo into the back of his Kid-N-Play style high fade.
It’s a photo that’s sure to make the rounds over the next few days, and shows that Noel has some personality to go along with his unique name and even more unique game as a rangy, first-class defensive threat in the blocks.
Kentucky may not have the next Anthony Davis on their hands next fall, but they’ll have another unique big man with a massive wingspan who certainly won’t have any trouble getting love from the Wildcats faithful with his playful and fun personality.
Nice work to Nerlens Noel– both announcements were all about showmanship and he put on a great show.
Why not?
