Photo: Atlanta Braves “The Slide” Bobblehead
There have been some creative bobbleheads over the years and they keep getting more and more elaborate. Last year there was the Kent Hrbek-Ron Gant bobblehead giveaway by Minnesota Twins that angered some Atlanta Braves fans.

But now the Braves have their own creative giveaway to please their faithful.
On June 9th of this season, when the Braves play the Toronto Blue Jays at Turner Field, they will be giving away “The Slide” bobblehead to the first 20,000 fans through the gates. The giveaway is an awesome recreation of Sid Bream sliding past Pittsburgh’s Mike LaValliere to end Game 7 of the 1992 NLCS. After the giveaway was announced months ago, Braves fans finally got their first look at the figurines yesterday when the photo was released on the Braves Twitter feed. On top of all that, before the game, there will also be a special pregame ceremony celebrating “The Slide”.
The Braves have gotten off to a fast start this season, currently in first place in the National League East with a 24-15 mark. They are in the top 10 of most offensive categories including runs (4th), batting average (2nd), on-base pct (6th)., and slugging pct (7th). Out of their current starting rotation, none of the pitchers has an ERA over 4.00 and they are led by Brandon Beachy who is 5-1 with a 1.33 ERA.
The Braves fans and players alike need a little something to be happy about after their collapse at the end of last season. A good start plus the bobblehead giveaway of the year and it adds up to a quality experience this season at Turner Field.
