The Pittsburgh Steelers have heard about the Call Me Maybe craze and decided not to be left out. The team did the video at their training camp and involved players, employees and even some people that attended the camp. Sounds like a pretty nice gesture if you ask me.
For those of you who thought this song would never die, you need to keep wishing. This song will keep getting airplay because it is so dang catchy. It might not be the world’s greatest song but it is pretty fun to sing along to. Um, not that I would know from experience or anything.
Back to the Pittsburgh Steelers version. As far as I can tell, this is the first professional sports team to do a cover of this song. There might be one out there that I may have missed, but this looks like the first of the Big 4 to take the plunge into covering a pop song.
They used all the resources that they had and it looks like everyone had a good time filming this. Bringing in some people that were attending camp to star in the video with the players is a classic Steelers PR move. It is hard to find something to knock about that organization.
So Call Me Maybe lives on for another parody. What will be the final straw that breaks its back? My money is on Darren Rovell making ESPN do a cover and everyone just leaving the Internet forever.
