Chad Johnson has seen his career and his life fall apart before his very eyes. The former star wide receiver was cut by the Miami Dolphins and it was captured in the cameras of Hard Knocks. On the season finale, they brought Johnson back for a final interview plus a workout video for some reason.
“I [redacted] everything up,” Johnson said. “I’m sure some opinions, some views of me, might have changed because of events that have happened. But all I can do is say sorry. I’m human. I’ve just got to come back and live strong. . . . Somewhere along the way I lost focus. I lost something I love — I lost two things I love — because of my immature actions. I’m going to get both of those things back, one step at a time.”
I mean, I do not get this at all. This almost seems like a favor to Johnson for some reason. He doesn’t need help to stay in the news. He can just go get another tattoo of his soon to be ex-wife on his leg. That will certainly keep the news cycle going.
I would be shocked if Chad Johnson ever ends up playing another game in football. He is simply poison at this point. He has not looked good in years and he has been struggling to pick up the playbook. What team out there is going to take the risk on bringing him?
This interview must have been a favor for helping bring some interest to another otherwise boring edition of the show. It really did nothing except act as an audition tape for Johnson. It is probably not going to work out and he is going to end up retiring the disgraced former star. I would have not seen that coming years ago, but I guess things change.
