Mike Francesa is a legend in New York radio. The long time radio guy on WFAN is known for his rants and raves. The way things are starting to go, he is also becoming known for falling asleep on air. Sweeny Murti was giving a report on the air when Francesa decided to take a cat nap. Thanks to the YES! Network live streaming, we have the video.
As a person who used to do some radio, falling asleep while on the air is not exactly hard to do. There are some times when there is absolutely nothing better to do when someone is talking. In fact, I can count numerous times I snuck in a minute nap during a discussion.
Since this is a radio show that gets simulcasted to millions of people, this makes it even better. If he did this just on the radio, no one would notice or care. Since he fell asleep on a TV part, it will probably never stop being funny. Well, at least until the next hilarious video comes out.
The radio business is a tough one and I really can not fault Francesa for trying to sneak in a quick nap. He probably had a long day and needed to catch on his sleep. Using an interview as a time to get that sleep probably is not the smartest move, but it is not like he slept for too long of time.
Only way this would have been better is if he started snoring. Now that would be some classic TV.
