Here at Rant Media Network, the parent company for Rant Sports, the team made their way down to Talladega Superspeedway in correlation with a Prilosec OTC campaign with Larry the Cable Guy. The campaign went well and be on the look out for the new video, in which Larry talks to NASCARfans about Prilosec OTC’s new flavor, Wild Berry!
Talladega is known for the wrecks and has become one of, if not the most popular races in the NASCAR circuit, and this year’s race did not disappoint. Matt Kenseth was propelled to victory with a 25 car pile up, when Chase leader Tony Stewart tried to protect his lead by blocking traffic. The move certainly backfired and the wreck consumed 10 of the 12 drivers in the Chase.
Though some other drivers are not thrilled with the restrictor-plate races, Stewart took responsibility for causing the massive pile up.
“I just screwed up. I turned down and cut across Michael and crashed the whole field,” Stewart said. “It was my fault, blocking and trying to stay where I was at.”
Dale Earnhart Jr. was one of those drivers affected by the wreck and was not happy with NASCAR afterwards.
“If this was what we did every week, I wouldn’t be doing it,” he said. “I’ll just put it to you that way. If this was how we raced every week, I’d find another job. That’s what the package is doing. It’s really not racing. It’s a little disappointing. It cost a lot of money right there.”
Although Earnhart has a point, the race is one of the more exciting ones and fans continue to flock to Alabama by the thousands on Talladega weekend. Check out the photos below provided by Rant Media Network’s own Lisa Rundell.
