Nike Terminates Contract With Lance Armstrong

Lance Armstrong spent years cultivating an image that was built on lies and drugs. Throughout the process, he used his ties with Nike to influence people and further push his goals. However, the end is near for Armstrong as the evidence is clear he was a man who was a sophisticated drug user. With all this coming out, Nike has ended its relationship with him.

Statement from Nike on terminating Lance Armstrong’s contract: “Due to the seemingly insurmountable evidence that Lance Armstrong participated in doping and misled Nike for more than a decade, it is with great sadness that we have terminated our contract with him. Nike does not condone the use of illegal performance enhancing drugs in any manner. Nike plans to continue support of the Livestrong initiatives created to unite, inspire and empower people affected by cancer.”

Lance used to have legions of fans who would never believe that the man would blood dope but the evidence is too clear.  Armstrong’s legacy at the Tour de France was built on lies and deception.  Not exactly a guy that you want to have a big influence on people.  If you want to inspire people, at least be straight up with them.

There will be those people who think Lance never cheated but you can not ignore evidence.  These are not just people with a vendetta against Lance.  There are people with nothing to gain that have exposed some of the things that he had planned.  It is sad to see, but some legends were meant to fail.
