Introduction
A lot of people have the impression that athletes are the coolest people on the planet. In some cases, that is true. These are guys that get to play childhood games for millions of dollars while getting famous in the process. Sounds like a pretty cool gig and there's no way these guys aren't awesome. However, there are always outliers. That is how you end up with our list of the 20 Most Awkward Athletes on the planet.
Like coolness, awkwardness can come in many different ways. There are some athletes that just look awkward. It is almost like they were assembled wrong and someone did a quick fix to make them look somewhat normal. There are athletes who simply move like they are about to explode. These guys do not make anything look graceful, but they are still great at their job.
The final category is what makes up the majority of our list. These are the guys who have horrible personalities, alter-egos, the inability to speak in public or some horrid combination of the above. They simply do not know how to come off as personable. Some end up acting like robots while others try to force the issue to be cool. More often than not, this ends up horrible for everyone who has to listen to what is going on.
There are some people that probably deserve to be on this list, but we simply could not find room. If you have any other suggestions, let us know in the comment section. If we get enough, we might just do this again to compare the original bunch against the suggestions.

As one of those guys who ended up watching Moss TV this past summer, Moss is one of the oddest guys in sports. Then again, when you are one of the best wideouts in NFL history, you can do whatever you want.
Eli Manning
Most of the Mannings are just goofy, but Eli takes the cake. Every time he does something, it just feels awkward and uncomfortable.
Floyd Mayweather
Well, when you refer to yourself by your nickname, that's a first sign. Hanging out with Justin Bieber might just prove the awkwardness.
Joe Flacco
His nickname might be "Joe Cool" but there is not a lot that is cool about the guy. He doesn't seem overly odd, but some of his mannerisms make you wonder how many of his teammates enjoy his company.

The man they call T-Plush is a perfect fit for this list. I mean, T-Plush? Come on.

Peavy might not seem awkward but listen to any interview he does. The bulldog in him comes out and you quickly figure out why his teammates love poking fun at him.

Cutler's body language does him more than anything. Might not be the most outwardly awkward person but his mannerisms sure make it seem like he is.
Bode Miller
I guess you wouldn't expect to see a skier on this list, but Miller is well known for talking about skiing drunk and whatnot. Very awkward for everyone who had to listen to that.
Hunter Pence
Pence has a hot wife but the poor dude is just athletically awkward. Every time he runs, it looks like he might just fall apart. That is good enough for our list.
Tim Thomas
Turning down an invitation to the White House? That's fine. Using it to make a political stance and then not shutting up about it? Awkwardddd.
Derrick Rose
I am an unabashed Rose lover, but the Humblebot is not someone that does well in public. His speaking and interviews lead to a lot of awkward moments when people try to figure out what he's saying.
Mike Tyson
I'm fairly certain that we don't need to explain this, but the dude loves pigeons. That's good enough for this list.
Kevin Garnett
Possibly the biggest fake tough guy in the league, Garnett plays up his "warrior" side and then runs from confrontation with people his own size. Plus, his "Anything is Possible" bit is just strange.

Prayer circles after games? That's Tebow for you. His religious stuff is his own deal, but the fact it gets brought up constantly is quite awkward.

Woods just seems like a robot at most times. His interviews are almost always canned answers, which makes things seem really awkward for all of us.
