The 2013 NFL Draft is always an exciting time of the year as college stars anxiously await to see if their dreams of playing in the NFL will come true. As for former Syracuse guard Justin Pugh, he received the phone call of a lifetime on Thursday night as the New York Giants informed him that he would be selected with the 19th pick–and the reaction from his friends and family could not have been any more exciting.
One of Pugh’s friends managed to capture the phone call on video between the Syracuse star and the Giants as you can see friends and family trying to contain their excitement about Pugh being selected in the first round. As football fans, you can’t help but enjoy these types of moments by prospects as you can see the look on their faces that their hard work has finally paid off, but the ending to this video has to be one of the best reactions from a player that was attending the draft we’ve seen in a long time.
Assoon as Pugh hangs up the phone, his friends and family just jump on top of him out of excitement–which was simply awesome. There’s no question New York needed help with their offensive line and Pugh’s draft stock was on the rise over the last couple of weeks–so it was great to see him go in the first round.
There was a reason why Pugh managed to start every game for the Orange during his three seasons with the team and it will be exciting to see what type of impact he can make with the Giants during his rookie season.
