Los Angeles Lakers Star Kobe Bryant in Court Battle With Mother Over High School Memorabilia

Richard Mackson-USA Today Sports

Whelp, Kobe Bryant is in court attempting to protect the sale of some of his high school memorabilia.

And who is the individual on the opposite side of his court battle attempting to do so you ask? His mother, of course.

That’s right, Kobe’s Mom is attempting to auction off some his high school mementos from his days at Lower Marion High School in Pennsylvania. In this specific court battle, there are approximately 900 mementos that are estimated to be worth roughly $1.5 million.

Look like Kobe’s Mom is trying to cash out while due a little spring cleaning here in 2013.

According to a report from the Associated Press, a New Jersey auction house filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court on Thursday for the right to sell the stuff after the NBA star’s lawyers wrote the firm telling it to cancel a planned June auction. The case itself is quickly becoming a matter of — Can Mom get rid of the stuff a grown child left at home?

First of all, Kobe is loaded. This isn’t about him preserving his memorabilia to maybe save the money for himself. He just simply doesn’t want his mementos to be sold away. So Kobe, I ask you this — why is the memorabilia still at your Mom’s house?

It appears however, that Pamela Bryant has already struck a deal with Goldin Auctions and collected a $450,000 check up front for the memorabilia. Either way, the courts will now sort things out.

Kobe never should’ve left his high school memorabilia at home when he originally moved out. They invented UHaul’s Kobe, it would’ve been that simple and all this could’ve been avoided.
