It appears that NBA legend and former Chicago Bulls superstar Scottie Pippen has been bitten by the acting bug. Pippen is being prepped for his own reality TV series, wittily titled “Big Pippen.”
“Big Pippen,” a docu-series, is currently in development for WE TV’s 2013-2014 lineup and will revolve around the luxuriously extravagant lifestyle of Pippen, his lovely wife Larsa Pippen, “her overbearing family and his clan from Arkansas,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Though Pippen’s television acting resume is rather limited outside of TV commercials during his playing career with the Bulls, he added stage acting to his repertoire last year. Pippen made his stage debut last December in Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol at Chicago’s Gooman Theatre. Reality show viewers may remember his wife Larsa from her stint on the show “Real Housewives of Miami” which featured occasional appearances from Mr. Pippen.
Expect the new show to highlight the couple’s move from Miami to Chicago in connection with Pippen’s new career with the Bulls. Currently, he is a special advisor to the Bulls President and COO Michael Reinsdorf.
Pippen played 12 of his 17 legendary NBA seasons with the Bulls. Hall of Famer Pippen is a seven-time NBA All-Star, member of six NBA championship teams with the Bulls, three-time All-NBA first team member, and winner of two Olympic Gold medals. He and his wife Larsa have been married since 1997 and have four children, one girl and three boys.
Look for “Big Pippen” to air later this year, and if the show is anything like his basketball career, it’s destined to be a slam-dunk.
