The San Antonio Spurs are in the midst of chasing another NBA championship and the only thing standing in their way is the new wave of excellence in South Beach. The Miami Heat evened up the NBA Finals series with a blowout victory on Sunday night, as things switch back to San Antonio force Games 3, 4 and 5.
Now speaking of things back in San Antonio, there’s the interesting debate over whether or not the Spurs should erect a statue of Tim Duncan around the arena when his career finally comes to a close. Some will probably believe that that statement might going a bit over the top, especially considering he is still playing, but let’s be serious — he’s earned it already.
Duncan has won four NBA championship (could be five by next week), three NBA Finals’ MVP awards, two regular season NBA MVP awards, etc. etc. The list goes on and on.
Well, during the Heat’s Game 2 victory, the ESPN/ABCbroadcast cut to an interview with Manu Ginobili and the topic of a Tim Duncan statue was being discussed.
Ginobili believes that the Spurs should create a statue for Duncan and he proceeds to list some of his accomplishments and his support as to why. He also offers a perfect impression of what Duncan’s reaction would be if he found out that San Antonio was giving him a statue.
Take a look at the video below:
Like I said, perfect reaction.
