Let’s be honest, when Julius “Dr. J” Erving first said that he could still dunk at the age of 63–it was difficult not to laugh considering how unrealistic it seemed. Well, looks like the joke is on us as Dr. J. proved he still has better hops at the age of 63 than most of us ever will.
After weeks of anticipation, Erving’s NBA TV documentary The Doctor was released for the first time on Tuesday and as expected–it certainly lived up to the hype. It’s always interesting to watch these types of documentaries, but with Irving being one of the greatest players to ever step foot on the basketball court, fans couldn’t wait to see what was in store from this documentary.
Back in his prime, Erving was always known as one of the best dunkers in the game and it’s no surprise to see that he still has some of the greatest dunks of all time. There are some of us that spend our whole lives wishing for the opportunity to be able to have the opportunity to throw down a jam during our youth days, but here’s Dr. J who is still lucky to throw it down at 63.
If watching the video above doesn’t provide you motivation to get into tip-top shape–nothing will. In case you missed the documentary’s debut on Tuesday, be sure to figure out a way to watch it–because it’s certainly one of the best you’ll see from the NBA.
