15 Athletes Who Need to Stop Doing Commercials
This is one of those lists you'll look at and agree with some, while disagreeing with others. 15 athletes who need to stop doing commercials is one that can relate to everyone.
Ever see a bad athlete commercial and think to yourself, "wow, what was he/she thinking?" I'm here to put that list of bad commercials together. Some commercials are just flat-out embarrassing while others are just bad because the athlete has been underperforming, and making a commercial should be their last priority.
I do have a couple of former athletes on this show that desperately need to stay out of the spotlight because either their commercials are awful, or we are just sick of them.
There are some athletes in commercials that excel at what they do and could end up with movie careers one day. While Shaquille O'Neal is one of the best NBA players of all-time, some of his commercials are questionable, but he has such a great personality that makes him star-worthy. He's earned spots on NBA pre-game and post-game shows on TNT as well as a movie role in the upcoming Grown Ups 2 film.
Charles Barkley is on the same page as Shaq because of his funny and likeable personality. He's been seen in multiple commercials since his playing days have ended and nobody's complaining.
Peyton Manning has been one of the best athletes to appear in commercials. He's been in what seems like a million commercials as the spokesperson for certain products and just promoting others. Manning is one of the funniest athletes out there as well, as he shows his humor in different ways, even appearing on Saturday Night Live.
Back to the real discussion. Here are 15 athletes who should seriously consider resigning from the commercial world.

Danica Patrick
She changed the racing landscape by being a woman competing in a predominantly-male sport. Danica Patrick also appears in GoDaddy.com commercials and while some people already know the site is for starting your own website, not too many people understand it. While the content of the commercial isn't her fault, she should choose better ads.
Brett Favre
Oh, gosh. Not that Wrangler jeans commercial again that makes Brett Favre look like some sort of rugged country man. Well, I don't know what he does in his free time, but I'm pretty sure it's not playing mud football with a group of random guys. I know he's not technically a professional athlete still, but he could change his mind at any given time.
Michael Jordan
Ah, the dreaded and overplayed Hanes commercials with Michael Jordan. Sure, he's not still an athlete, but he's connected to the sports world nonetheless. His one-word responses in these commercials are just not cutting it for me. Oh, and that 'stache? Come on, Mike.
Greg Jennings
I think they're really funny commercials. Greg Jennings appearing in Old Spice ads is not something I'm against, but not playing much in 2012 and then slapping his old team the Green Bay Packers in the face, leaving for divisional foe, the Minnesota Vikings -- yeah, not so fond of the guy.
Josh Hamilton
It's just sad that Josh Hamilton had to start the 2013 season so poorly and lose the respect of Texas Rangers' fans after the 2012 season. However, if you're going to be in commercials, make sure you perform on the field first.
