Jason Dufner won the 2013 PGA Championship in dramatic fashion, overcoming a rough third round to shoot two under on Sunday and win the tournament by two strokes. With the win, his unintentional pose, #Dufnering, has now become the new #Tebowing although it was first seen way back in March.
Deadspin posted the photo above five months ago, but no casual golf fans knew who Jason Dufner was at that time. After his name was atop the leaderboard all weekend and especially on Sunday, the photo resurfaced and has become far more popular than the golfer himself or his most recent accomplishment — his first major — in hours.
The best part for Dufner is all the added publicity and there should be more to come on Monday once all the work force returns to the office and starts surfing the web. It’s safe to say they’ll see the picture and/or the hashtag pretty quickly.
Actually, the best part is Rory McIlroy, Bubba Watson, Rickie Fowler and other professional golfers joining in the fun, Dufnering in several funny areas and making fun of their colleague’s priceless expression in the picture above. You can see a few of their contributions below and a Vine of the Rant Sports crew who got in on the action:
