Kobe Bryant Dives 40 Feet Into Pool on First Vine Post

Kobe Bryant is on a mission to get back on the court well ahead of schedule following surgery to repair his torn achilles tendon. Most experts initially projected he would be out until the early part of 2014, but all reports out of Mamba camp indicate that Kobe is destroying the normal recovery timetable. Few have the work ethic and attitude of No. 24, so I won’t be shocked at all if he’s ready to go early on in the 2013-14 NBA season.

Kobe did however recently take a break from his rehab to shoot his first ever Vine video. Of course, it was done in true Mamba fashion:

Would you expect anything else from him? Of course Kobe would jump into a pool from 40 feet above. I’m sure this made fans and Los Angeles Lakers executives cringe a little bit, but at the same time, it’s a good sign that he’s comfortable enough to do something like this on his surgically repaired achilles tendon.

It’s definitely fair to wonder if he’ll be the same player upon his return. He’ll be 35-years old and we all know how many miles his legs have on them. I believe he will return to form, but that his best days are certainly behind him. One thing is for sure, he needs help in L.A. There’s just not enough talent around him to consider the Lakers a legitimate threat in the Western Conference next year.
