If you’re looking for the tear-jerking video of the day, it’s right here. The Ohio State Buckeyes are looked at as one of the toughest, hard-nosed football teams in the country. They are supposed to be feared on the field with Braxton Miller at quarterback and Urban Meyer as the second-year coach who has never lost a game in Columbus. However, it’s what the entire team did before the game with local anchor Dom Tiberi that has people applauding them.
On Sept. 17, the local anchor lost his 21-year-old daughter in a car accident — never an easy thing for a parent to have to deal with, especially when the future seems so bright. On Saturday, before the Wisconsin Badgers matchup, the university had a moment of silence held for the anchor — who apparently is a well-liked man as well.
Before heading to the locker room after the team’s big win over Wisconsin — where Tiberi made his first return to football action since the accident — nearly every single player stopped to give the man a hug.
Watch it here, but just be warned that it is a pretty emotional video:
As you can see, the veteran anchor starts tearing up at the end when the final player finishes his hug. It’s always refreshing to see acts of kindness like this happen, proving that sports can always take a backseat to the real problems of the world.
Tiberi returned to the air on a local CBS affiliate station on Thursday, Sept. 26, for the first time since his daughter’s passing.
Grab some tissues, people.
