If you’re addicted to the show “Modern Family” then you’re going to love this. Each character on the show has a very distinct personality, but so do a lot of athletes and other figures from the sports world. So we decided to re-cast the show with most athletes and one coach but after seeing the new cast, you’ll think the one coach was a great fit as well. Enjoy!

Jay is that guy in the show and Jets coach Rex Ryan is that guy in the sports world. Plus, he’s a little crazy and obviously attracted to younger, hot women…just like Jay.

Everybody loves Gloria. Well, at least all the male viewers love her simply because she’s eye candy…and really nothing else. In the sports world, Sophie Horn has all kinds of titles, such as “Hottest Female Golfer in the World” but she has yet to crack the LPGA tour as “pro golfer”. No one is complaining because she’s fun to look at, just like Gloria in the show. Ok, and both of them occasionally say something funny, whether they mean to or not.

For Cam, we obviously needed an athlete who is extremely dramatic and uses his hands a lot to express his displeasure…or pleasure, depending on the scene. Paul Pierce could easily have been a low-budget actor because he is THE most dramatic player in the NBA, and that’s saying something. The hands all over the place during his shenanigans and his foolish thought that he’s the best at everything make him Cam’s character match.

This character re-casting called for an athlete who whines a lot and always plays the victim. Everyone except delusional Penguins fans will agree Sid the Kid fits that bill. Mitchell’s character also thinks he’s a little better at everything than he really is and although Crosby is arguably the best player in the NHL, he’s still a little too cocky at times.

So we obviously needed a cute, young female athlete for this role, and one who at least seems a little ditzy as well. Michelle Jenneke is only 20 while Sarah Hyland — the actress who plays Haley — is actually 23. Haley is known for her being an average teenage girl in the show and Jenneke’s few interviews make her seem pretty similar, despite her age. Both Jenneke and Haley are young, cute and a little silly, so this one was an easy match.

For this one, we definitely needed another young athlete and the one who matches Luke’s character the best is Johnny Manziel. Like Luke, Manziel isn’t very bright, he’s nuts about the ladies and loves to party and do crazy stuff. So yeah, when you think about it, Johnny Football would be perfect to play Luke.

Although she's 23 — seven years older than Ariel Winter, the actress who plays Alex — Caroline Wozniacki is a really smart, pinch-her-cheeks cute young athlete whose trying too hard sometimes backfires. As Alex gets older in the show, she becomes more of a typical teenage girl, although she remains brainy. In the same way, Wozniacki is still growing up as a tennis player and celebrity.

Is there any other athlete who thinks he’s way better than he really is? In the show, Manny is the biggest dork imaginable and he thinks he’s really good at all of his…bizarre talents. Mario Chalmers is the same way on the basketball court and, like Manny, the only women he gets are after his money.

For Claire, we needed a relatively good-looking female athlete who often tries too hard to impress everyone and that typically leads to her saying and doing things that she probably regrets. Does Lolo Jones not fit that bill perfectly? The slight similarities in appearance definitely don’t hurt, either.

For the primary male role in the show, we needed an incredibly goofy athlete with a bizarre sense of humor who often gets upset about silly things. Sometimes those things make us laugh while other times we just stare in disbelief. When watching Phil on the show, that’s often the case, just like watching Brian Wilson on the diamond…or anywhere else.
