Athletes are a very superstitious group of people. Every athlete has his or her own quirk that makes them unique and many have pre-game and post-game rituals that they believe will continue good luck or end the bad luck.
Eating habits go along those same lines. Well, some of the athletes on this list just eat this was because they like to, not because of superstitions. Let's take a look at the 20 craziest athlete eating habits.

While it's not exactly a wild eating habit, Dwight Howard has been known to be a huge fan of skittles. In fact, he even had a custom-made pinball machine/dispenser placed in his house. I call that dedication for the sugary snack.

Dwayne Johnson does something every now and then that I bet we all wish we could do. He dedicates one day to a carb blowout. His most famous one happened recently when he downed a stack of pancakes, four pizzas and a tray of brownies. Yes, of course he washed it down with nearly a gallon of milk.

Derek is a creature of habit. He makes sure to eat a few peanut butter and jelly sandwiches about an hour before game time. No more, no less.

Before each game in his career, Urlacher hinted at having a sweet tooth. Many athletes ate protein before physical competition, but Urlacher had two chocolate chip cookies before every game.
16. LenDale White

Not necessarily an eating habit, but LenDale White was known for being overweight. Why? Because he drank tequila like it was his job. Yes, some may call this alcoholism, but when he stopped drinking tequila, he lost a ton of weight.

LeBron James is a big fan of sugary cereals. Ever since he was a kid, he wanted to eat the most candy-like cereals as possible, and his mom couldn't say no. Heck, he even had a shoe made with fruity pebbles pictured on the side.

Caron Butler used to be severely addicted to Mountain Dew. Well, no severely, but he did down about six, or more, of the sugary beverages per day. When he stopped drinking the Dew, he lost about 11 pounds instantly.

Lamar Odom's candy addiction even hit the bedroom. When he and Khloe Kardashian were together, he used to keep a stash next to the bed so he could wake up and get a sugar high whenever he wanted.

Sam Bradford has more of an OCD eating habit. It's not super crazy, but he only eats in threes. For example, three pieces of fruit or three pieces of cake. Everything has to be eaten in groups of three.
11. Ryan Lochte

Ryan Lochte had a poor diet prior to the London Olympic Games in 2012. In fact, he used to eat McDonalds "pretty much every day" and had to stop the trend. He stopped eating the fast food chain and switched to a healthier diet of candy and soda. Smart move.

Usain Bolt, like Lochte, is an Olympic superstar. Bolt, also like Lochte, was in love with McDonalds and his father even said that yams and chicken nuggets helped him prepare for the Olympics. The fastest man in the world's secret is revealed, everyone: yams and nuggets.

Bryce Harper's eating habit is also accompanied with a weird hygiene habit. The young slugger must eat Eggo waffles before every game -- they must be Eggo -- and he insists on showering seven times every single day. I'm sure the two don't mix, but it's odd nonetheless.

Everyone knows about Marshawn Lynch's Skittles addiction. The Seattle Seahawks even keep a huge bowl of Skittles on the sideline for the bruising back in case he ever feels the need to quench his sweet tooth.

Former jockey, Laffit Pincay Jr., wasn't just good at racing horses, but the slightly-built jockey was pretty good at keeping a routine. Pincay Jr. used to eat one single peanut before each race. Yes. One. Single. Peanut.

Rose, like many athletes on this list, has a strong candy addiction. Sometimes fueling it early and often is the best option, but Rose went a bit too far with his, even developing stomach ulcers because of his addiction. Yeah, that's a real problem.
5. Justin Verlander

On the night before every start, Justin Verlander eats Taco Bell. Yes, Taco Bell. He claims it helps him pitch better, and no one can really argue with the former Cy Young and MVP winner. What exactly does he eat? The same thing every time: three crunchy taco supremes with no tomato, a cheesy gordita crunch and a Mexican pizza with no tomato.
4. John Daly

John Daly isn't exactly the healthiest guy in the world. In fact, out-of-shape golfer smokes about 40 cigarettes per day as well as drinks about 10-12 Diet Cokes per day. That's actually down from his old habit of 28 Diet Cokes per day. No calories at least, right?
3. Les Miles

Les Miles eats the turf before every game. Yes, he takes actual pieces of grass and takes bites from them. Weird, but effective. I think?
2. Michael Phelps

Michael Phelps has one of the craziest diets you will ever hear. Many claim that this is a myth, but the swimmer was rumored to have downed about 12,000 calories per day to help him burn energy for his extreme swim workouts. True or not, that is impressive.
