Led by captain MS Dhoni's unbroken match-winning half-century, India defeated West Indies and remained undefeated to cement itself as the hottest team thus far at the World Cup. Fans in Perth watched as India bowled West Indies out for 182, remaining as one of two unbeaten teams (New Zealand).

“I think it was a difficult wicket, with variable bounce and extra bounce for the fast bowlers,” Dhoni said after the game.

West Indies won the toss, but it was really India that ended up playing with the better pitch conditions. West Indies were struggled from the very beginning, but were helped out by four dropped catches from India. Despite dropped catches however, India remained in control thanks to the bowling. Mohammed Shami could be India's No. 1 weapon going forward. He took 3 wickets, retiring Dwayne Smith, Chris Gayle and Darren Sammy for 35 runs in 8 overs.

What India has, and many sides do not, is a leader who can maintain a certain level of composure regardless of the consequences. Jason Holder's 64-ball 57 - through the multiple dropped catches - had a chance to put India in danger.

Dhoni's calm play, however, was a thing of beauty. Ashwin played Robin to Dhoni's batman as he finished with 45 not out.
