Sometimes Twitter can bring out the idiots, and that was never more true than when The US Women’s National Team defeated Japan 5-2 in the 2015 Women’s World Cup. The victory sparked many to joke that the win was revenge for Pearl Harbor, referencing the Japanese surprise attack that forced the United States’ involvement in World War II. This is why we can’t have nice things, America.

At least most of the people mentioning Pearl Harbor (50,000 times yesterday according to metrics) were telling the idiots how much they were idiots because idiots.

Twitter should just ban these people. I’m all for having a sense of humor, but you have to know when you’re crossing a line that shouldn’t be crossed. Jeff Shull is Senior Social Strategist at Rant, Inc. Follow him on Twitter if you’d like, you won’t see Pearl Harbor jokes.
