ESPN personality Bomani Jones was co-hosting ‘Mike and Mike’ this morning and, as is usually the case with Jones, he made a statement. He made the decision to wear a ‘Cleveland Caucasians’ shirt with the Indians’ mascot, Chief Wahoo, on the front in an attempt to prove how certain things can be considered racist to certain people, and not to others.

White people don’t see the Chief Wahoo mascot as offensive, but it’s a different viewpoint when the name is changed from Indians to Caucasians. It’s a reminder that just because you may not see something as racist or offensive, doesn’t mean that it’s not.
Typically, I’m not a fan of Jones as I think he just takes certain stances to get attention, but I’m proud of him for this one. The world would be a much better place if we started taking into consideration other people’s feelings instead of our own.
