Peter Mueller Helps Power the Colorado Avalanche Past the Los Angeles Kings
After scoring three goals in the past two games, Peter Mueller has the Avalanche offense firing on all cylinders. When the Coyotes put a beat down on Colorado on January 16, a lot of questions began to surface about the mental toughness of this hockey club. The past two games against Florida and L.A. have seemed to put those questions to rest for now.
Teams cannot allow the Avalanche to stick around in games. Colorado is the best team in one-goal contests. With 17 one-goal victories, the Avs seem to have taken a page from a fellow Denver icon when it comes down to winning games in the final moments. The Avalanche, when given the opportunity, just find a way to win.
Peter Mueller has been a huge part of the Avalanche’s success in the previous two games. Scoring three of Colroado’s seven goals in those two games, Mueller has definitely ignited the Avs’ offense.
A true test will come tomorrow when the Avalanche play in yet another back-to-back game when they take on Anaheim. In previous back-to-back games, the Avalanche looked tired and executed terribly. After a physically demanding game at Staples Center against the Kings, Colorado looks to ride the momentum created by Mueller and make a statement in the Western Conference heading into the All-Star break later this week.
