Breaking News: Paul Westphal Fired By Sacramento Kings
According to ESPN, the first coach firing of the year has come just two weeks into the NBA regular season. Experts said NBA owners would not waist time this season when making decisions due to the league’s shortened schedule. Shockingly, the Kings fired Paul Westphal amidst all the DeMarcus Cousins trade talk the last week.
The Kings have started the season off 2-5 with a bunch of young and talented players, albeit immature and inexperienced. The Kings were 51-120 under Westphal in his two-plus years of coaching in California.
The firing occurs in light of the DeMarcus Cousins public trade demands. We can obviously see firsthand who the organization supports. Oddly enough, Sacramento is trusting their 1st-round pick, center who has a questionable past with character issues instead of a solid, experienced NBA coach. The funny part is Westphal was brought into Sacramento because he was said to work well with younger players. I guess not.
Paul Westphal led the Phoenix Suns to the 1993 NBA Finals against the Chicago Bulls. That would be the closest he ever got to an NBA Championship. We will keep you updated with the current situation in Sacramento once more information is revealed. Stay tuned to Rant Sports to see who the next Sacramento Kings head coach will be.
