Should The New Jersey Nets Deal Deron Williams?
In the NBA world that we live in nowadays, when you think of the New Jersey Nets, you think of the losing phenomenon that they have been apart of the past few years. Also, when you think of the face of the Nets you are not seeing a Jason Kidd, Kenyon Martin, Richard Jefferson or Devan Harris anymore. You picture Deron Williams.
With Williams in the last year of his contract and the Nets moving to Brooklyn next season, it is almost imperative that the Nets bring in someone that is going to keep Williams, the face of the Nets, in New Jersey and eventually Brooklyn. Sadly, even though we have heard countless rumors of the Nets going after Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard, there has not been a trade made and it does not look like there is going to be one at this point of the season.
This brings up the question that any Nets fan would be scared to have asked. Should the Nets trade Deron Williams?
There is barely any hope that the Nets are going to be able to keep Williams during the offseason unless a mega deal of sorts happens. Since no deal looks likely, the Nets could consider getting Williams off their hands before the offseason comes.
There is already rumor of the Dallas Mavericks being interested in Williams when the offseason comes and that they will push hard for him. The Lakers could also be a potential trade candidate as long as Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum stay healthy.
The Lakers could be the best trade suitor since they do have two key pieces to pull off a trade and maybe the Lakers could use Williams to swing a guy like Dwight Howard.
The burden that Williams is becoming on the Nets is getting harder to bear each time the Nets play and even worse when the Nets lose. You can almost tell that Williams is not happy and that he cannot carry this team by himself.
The Nets could be better off trading Williams before the trade deadline this season.
