Dwight Howard on Verge of Scoring Record
All-Star center Dwight Howard is 26 points away from being the all-time leading scorer for the Orlando Magic.
Howard has been spectacular for the Magic all season as he has averaged 20.2 points, 16.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.33 blocks and 1.40 steals per game. He is a big reason why Orlando is 11-4 and in second place in the Eastern Conference behind the Chicago Bulls.
The record could be bittersweet for Howard as trade rumors continue to swirl. Regardless, it should be a very special day if he is able to score enough points to surpass Nick Anderson.
This will be Howard’s 17th Magic record as he is the franchise leader in free throws, free throw attempts, offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds, total rebounds, blocks, turnovers, personal fouls, rebounds per game, true shooting percentage, defensive rebound percentage, total rebound percentage, defensive rating, offensive win shares, defensive win shares and win shares.
The Magic play the Boston Celtics tonight on NBA TV as they look to build off of their Friday night victory over the Los Angeles Lakers and win their fifth straight road game. Orlando has won five of their last six with the lone loss coming in overtime against the San Antonio Spurs. Boston has won the last two played between these two teams but allowed Howard to average 30.5 points and 13.0 rebounds in both games.
