2012 NBA All Star Game rosters announced
Earlier this evening, the full 2012 NBA All Star Game lineups were announced.
Already, controversy is starting to bubble up on social media sites and the Internet about who was snubbed, who made it that shouldn’t have, and if the reserves that were selected are the best possible choices given the shortened first half of the 2011-2012 NBA season.
First off, here are the full lineups for both the Western and Eastern Conferences, including starters:
Western Conference Starters
PG- Chris Paul, Los Angeles Clippers

F-C- Kevin Love, Minnesota Timberwolves

Eastern Conference Reserves

C- Roy Hibbert, Indiana Pacers
F-G- Andre Iguodala, Philadelphia 76ers
G- Joe Johnson, Atlanta Hawks
F- Paul Pierce, Boston Celtics
G- Deron Williams, New Jersey Nets
In looking at the rosters, there are a few snap observations to consider:
- LaMarcus Aldridge was definitely deserving of a spot on this year’s Western Conference squad. Averaging a career high 23.3 points per game and 8.5 boards per game, Aldridge has been a dominant force for the Blazers in the season’s early-going.
- Dirk Nowitzki is a surprise selection to the Western Conference reserves. Dirk’s body of work suggests that he should always be an All-Star, but his slow start to the 2011-2012 season suggests otherwise.
- Roy Hibbert and Luol Deng are both first-time All-Stars who are deserving. Averaging a solid 16.0 points per game and 7.3 boards per game, Deng has been a catalyst on both ends of the court for a young Bulls team. Hibbert has been an imposing defensive presence for the Pacers, averaging 13.9 points, 9.9 boards and a whopping 1.8 blocks per game in his third year in Indianapolis.
The 61st NBA All-Star game is scheduled for Sunday, February 25th at the Amway Arena in Orlando, Florida.
