Kevin Love to compete in All-Star Weekend 3-point contest?
When you think of the guys that compete each year in the NBA’s All-Star Weekend three point contest, you don’t think centers.
This year may be one of the first exceptions to the rule, as it has been rumored that Minnesota Timberwolves star Kevin Love may compete in the three point contest.
According to a tweet from Jerry Zgoda of the Minnesota Star Tribune, Love is considering it:
Love when asked about chances in 3pt contest: “I think I got a good shot at anything I do. I’m a pretty competitive guy.”
I wouldn’t count him out.
After all, Kevin Love’s path to the NBA didn’t have as much to do with extreme athleticism as it did hard work and dedication which allowed him to rise to the level of his competition with consistency.
One of the more well-rounded centers in the pro game, selected as a Western Conference All-Star reserve, Love is shooting a solid 37.8% on the season from long range. He’s tough to game-plan for because of the variety of ways that he can hurt you on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.
If Love is indeed competing in the three point competition, it could add some nice flavor to a part of the All Star Weekend that has gotten watered-down and become bland in recent years.
Heck, he might even win.
