Rockets come up short
A 17-2 run was not enough to overcome a sluggish first half and Kevin Love’s brilliance.
Love scored 33, including an all important 8-0 run by himself that was a response to Houston’s aforementioned run in the fourth and led the Timberwolves to a 111-98 victory.
The victory gave the T-Wolves a tiebreaker over all three Texas basketball teams.
It was the first meeting between the teams since Love stepped on Luis Scola’s face and chest after knocking him to the ground while driving to the basket in a Minnesota win on Feb. 4. Love was suspended for two games.
It also shows how much of an improvement a year makes and how good of a coach Rick Adleman is to get this team to dominate Texas.
Kyle Lowry (17 points, 6 assists) and Ricky Rubio (18 points, 9 assists) both played well and helped their team.
The difference however was the T-Wolves ability to score in the paint. The T-Wolves brought a two pronged attack that was unstoppable.
Newly minted starter, Nikola Pekovic, cemented his position in the line up by scoring 30 points. Darco Milicic is now firmly on the bench, where he should be.
Pekovic and Love combined to boss hog the lane on both ends of the floor.
It’s almost impossible to survive giving up 30 points to two players in the front court. The Rockets should tip their cap to the T-Wolves because they earned the victory.
The team was coming off of a 96-95 win over Oklahoma City yesterday.
