Random factoid of the night, the twitter logo is named, Larry The Bird.
This was confirmed when Peter Stringer, the Boston Celtic’s director of interactive media, asked Twitter co-founder Biz Stone about the weird connection in Aug. 2011.
Hey @Biz Is the @Twitter Bird icon named after @Celtics legend Larry Bird? http://t.co/ZYcljax (thanks @EeeGeee)

We were reminded of this random factoid when Ryan Sarver, a Twitter employee who works on the company’s platform and API, sent out a tweet reminding us of their logo’s name.

I must admit that I am rather happy to hear about this sign of respect by twitter. To think out of all the people and animals they could choose from, they chose Larry “Legend” Bird.
Good on you twitter. I have gained respect for you as a company.
