Video: Golden State Owner Joe Lacob Booed During Chris Mullin Jersey Retirement
Something tells me that Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob isn’t popular in the Bay Area. Lacob just signed off on a five player deal that shipped fan favorite Monta Ellis to the Milwaukee Bucks. In exchange, they received oft injured center Andrew Bogut and Stephen Jackson. They later shipped Jackson to San Antonio for Richard Jefferson.
Monday night was the jersey retirement ceremony for Chris Mullin. The Warriors were in the process of it when Lacob was called on to speak. That’s when things got awkward.
The Warrior faithful were out for blood. They relentlessly booed Lacob and the owner was visibly shaken.
I get that they don’t like the trade, but this night isn’t about Lacob. It’s about honoring Chris Mullin. Apparently the Warrior fans forgot that. I’m sure Mullin won’t have the fondest memories of this night.
