What the heck is Carmelo Anthony doing? I do not know about anyone else, but I find myself extremely upset about Anthony’s latest round of comments to Newsday after New York’s victory over the Toronto Raptors.

Anthony told reporters the following:

“I think in the last three games, my focus was just having energy that I haven’t had for this season, especially on the defensive end. Everybody on this team, and everybody in the world, knows I can score the basketball, so it’s not that important to me. As far as on the defensive end, I’m just showing my teammates that the effort is there, giving that extra effort, and as a result, everybody’s been feeding off of that.”

Does anyone else not see a problem with getting passed over so easily?

Anthony is currently being payed $18,520,000 this season. After last night’s game, that marks the 46th of 66 games for the season. So Anthony, are you telling Knicks’ fans that you were dogging it for over half of the already shortened season?

I’m disgusted. If I were the Knicks GM, I would have sent Anthony packing the next morning. I will not tolerate people who quit on their team.

Sure, I understand that people are injured, but then to come out and say that you intentionally did not give it your all and act like it was nothing was just putrid. Where was it for the first half? Pouting about the coach? The Knicks will not be a great, championship caliber team until the ego of Anthony goes away.

I understand D’Antoni resigning, fine. What I cannot understand is high profile athletes not giving it their all, especially when they are payed millions to play a sport where millions grow up only dreaming. It’s a privilege, not a right, to play in the National Basketball Association. If Anthony had tried that in the NFL, he would have been shut up real quick by opposing players.

Hear me out here, but Anthony needs to take a page out of Tim Tebow’s game. Tebow refuses to quit, even in the preseason, where he got injured scoring a junk time touchdown on the final play of a game in which Denver was not going to win regardless. Don’t remember? Watch the Youtube video on it, where he runs over Kyries Hebert, refusing to quit. It was the pre-season. PRESEASON!

Other people may blow it off, but not me. This is RantSports, and this is my rant. I don’t ever want to hear about Anthony demanding a trade again. It is one thing to give it your all, and being frustrated that others are not giving their all. But when you are the problem? My friends and I have a phrase for that,

“MAN UP.”
