VIDEO: JaVale McGee Knocks Out Kevin Love With Elbow
In a season where the Minnesota Timberwolves have been snakebitten by injuries, Kevin Love has stayed healthy. That is, until he ran into a JaVale McGee elbow Wednesday night. McGee accidentally caught Love square in the head with an elbow, which left Love with a concussion and a stay in a Denver hospital.
The Timberwolves have been fighting for a playoff spot, but the injuries have just kept mounting. The inability to keep J.J. Barea and Michael Beasley healthy has hurt. The loss of Ricky Rubio to a torn ACL has hurt even more. This loss of Love is the final nail in the coffin this season.
Don’t get me wrong, Minnesota is a team on the rise. However, I have not seen a team this snakebitten by injuries in a long time. Heck, even emerging center Nikola Pekovic was felled by an ankle injury earlier this season. All of their key rotation guys have been affected this season. It is a strange thing to see.
This is probably an affect of the lockout season. Strange things happen every night. Injuries are beginning to mount. Even the title contenders are getting hit with weird losses and awful injuries. It is a war of attrition this season and not many teams are winning.
The future in Minnesota is bright. However, they may want to hijack the Phoenix Suns training staff. Only they would be able to keep this team healthy. Even then, I doubt their superpowers would be able to avoid all these injuries.
