Video: Blake Griffin adds to his poster collection with dunk over Kenneth Faried
Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin has had so many ridiculous dunks over the 2011-12 NBA season that his posters are becoming almost routine. If you are under or around the basket and Griffin has the ball, you’re going to get dunked on, plain and simple. Denver Nuggets rookie forward Kenneth Faried got a little taste of Griffin’s high-flying antics Wednesday night:
The Clippers went on to beat the Nuggets, with Griffin chipping in with 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the victory. Griffin is averaging 20.4 points and 10.9 rebounds on the season. All-star guard Chris Paul led Los Angeles with 21 points. Former Nugget Kenyon Martin helped seal the victory against his old team, tipping in a missed shot by Paul and blocking a shot in the final minute of play.
“Lob City” has won 13 of 15 games, and now sits only half a game back of the rival Los Angeles Lakers for 1st place in the Pacific division. The Clippers are currently the No. 4 seed with only four games remaining until the NBA playoffs, and would draw the scrappy Memphis Grizzlies if the season ended today.
With the loss the Nuggets fell to No. 7 in the West, with the Utah Jazz, Houston Rockets and Phoenix Suns all jockeying for the final playoff positions. Denver has three of their final four games on the road. Guard Ty Lawson led the Nuggets in the loss, scoring a game-high 24 points on 9-14 shooting. The Nuggets would currently match up with the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round, but could also see the Clippers again depending on how the final four games play out.
