Should Los Angeles Clippers Guard Chris Paul Win MVP?
Jesse Johnson-US PRESSWIRE

Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul is one of the best, if not the best, point guards in the NBA and his time with the New Orleans Hornets certainly proves so. Paul was traded to the Clippers during the offseason and quickly made a huge impact with the team turning it from a middle of the road type team to a perennial threat to win the Western Conference championship and to propel them into the NBA Finals.

That is the main reason why Mike Monroe of Spurs Nation thinks that Paul should be award the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award instead of LeBron James or Kevin Durant. When you think of the phrase, “most valuable,” you certainly think of players who were not on the team, where would the team be? We already know that if James was not with the Miami Heat, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh could certainly carry the team. If Durant was not with the Oklahoma City Thunder you could make a case saying that Russell Westbrook would be able to handle that load as well.

As for Paul, we already know where the Clippers stand without him and just Blake Griffin. We can take last year for example. The Clippers finished 32-50. The Clippers are currently 39-20, their best record since 2005-06 when they finished 47-35 and finished losing in the Western Conference semifinals.

Paul is giving the Clippers a different element that they never had before, leadership and experience. Paul means more to this team than anyone actually does. He packs a punch when it comes game time. This season, Paul is averaging 19.3 points per game and nine assists per game.
