Patrick Ewing will be interviewed by the Charlotte Bobcats for a coaching position that will have the daunting task of rebuilding after the worst season in NBA history. Ewing, who has eight years of coaching experience including five with Stan Van Gundy and the Orlando Magic, would be a match made in heaven should Charlotte land Anthony Davis in the NBA Draft.

The Hall of Fame power forward averaged 21 points and 9.8 rebounds over his 17-year NBA career, and is widely considered one of the most dominant big men of all time. He has worked with All-Star center Dwight Howard in Orlando over the past few years, helping mold the big man into one of the most dominating players in the game today.

Ewing was also interviewed for the head coaching gig with the Detroit Pistons last year. Golden State Warriors assistant coach Mike Malone and former Portland Trailblazers head coach Nate McMillan are also reportedly being considered for the position, while former Utah Jazz legend Jerry Sloan has been rumored to be coveted by the Bobcats.

The chosen candidate will have the assignment of following up a horrendous 7-59 season. The team could drastically improve its outlook if the ping pong balls roll their way in the lottery, with the Kentucky big man a lock for the No. 1 pick. Davis is one of the most hyped big men in recent memory, averaging 14 points, 10 rebounds and nearly five blocks for the National Champion Wildcats. The 6-10 big man has also been named a finalist for the U.S. Olympic Team this summer.
