In another twist to the riveting roller coaster that is the Dallas Mavericks offseason, full of superstar pickups like Chris Kaman and projected eighth seeds, Mark Cuban has another blockbuster shocker. Jason Kidd is not getting his jersey lifted to the rafters in the home that pioneer Maverick Rolando Blackman built.
“I was more than upset,” Cuban said. “I thought he was coming. I was pissed. …
“J. Kidd is a big boy; he can do whatever he wants. But you don’t change your mind like that. That was … Yeah. I’m sure I’ll get over it at some point, but as of now, I wouldn’t put J. Kidd’s number in the rafters.”

Kidd, like the wise Blackman before him, has decided to play out his twilight years in a more storied franchise–one known for its dimly lit garden, as to hinder eyesight of actual championship banners. Yes, it’s the team we all know and love, the New York Knicks.
Cuban has been on a tear of late, claiming he almost had Kobe Bryant in 2007, saying the Mavericks don’t need Deron Williams anyway and promising fans the security only O.J Mayo can provide that the Mavericks are going somewhere this playoffs. Rest easy tonight Mavericks fans, because another promising season lays before you.
This, of course, wouldn’t be the first time Kidd made a decision that got himself in hot water with team ownership. Take a look at this late ’90s haircut that got him traded off the Phoenix Suns to begin with.
