LeBron James will never escape the Michael Jordan discussion.
Even though he has unintentionally did everything he can to take him out of discussion, it may seemingly be impossible.
So he left the team that drafted him, changed his jersey number, joined two perennial all-stars, and didn’t score more than two points in the fourth quarter in four straight NBA finals games in 2011, he is still going to hear about how he is just as good or not even close to as good as Jordan.
Maybe it just speaks to how great he truly is or it speaks to how society seems to overreact to everything when it comes to sports.
It is a little bit of both.
James may very well be the most versatile and all-around talented player to ever play the game but Jordan is the best to ever play the game.
James won the league MVP, finals MVP, and a gold medal all in the same year just like Jordan did in 1992. LeBron James won his first ring at 27 in five games and Jordan won his first at 28 in five games. James played the second best player in the world in the finals for his first ring and Jordan played arguably the second best player of all time in the finals for his first ring.
They both were the driving force for their team to win it all and both failed continuously before achieve that goal.
The thing that many neglect is that LeBron James may actually finish his career as the best ever because of what he was before he actually won.
He was a three-time MVP and had two NBA finals appearances before he won his first ring. Jordan was two-time MVP and a one-time Defensive Player of the year.
James who is now recognized as the best basketball player in the world will always have to look up to the best basketball player the world has ever seen.
