The Brooklyn Nets have had one of their most productive off-seasons to date this past summer, acquiring four European players in the process. The four Euro-players each represent and play for a different country: Mirza Teletovic with Bosnia, Tornike Shengelia with Georgia, Ilkan Karaman with Turkey, and Bojan Bogdanovic with Croatia. All four players, participating in the Eurobasket Tournament, have tried hard to prove their worth, with Teletovic being the most successful. Leading the whole tournament in scoring with 26.3 PPG, Teletovic did not play today, but has definitely shown why he is projected to be the Brooklyn Nets’ starting power forward this upcoming season. Tornike Shengelia easily had the best performance today out of all Euro-Nets, putting up a statline of 20 points (7-12), 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals. Despite Shengelia’s valiant effort, Gerorgia just barely fell to the Netherlands. Ilkan Karaman also lost his exhibition match today, and not coincidently, had his worst game worst game of the tournament with 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 turnovers. On the other hand, Bojan Bogdanavic delivered Croatia a victory with an impressive 19 point game (7-11).
Bogdanavic and Croatia remain the best team out of the four Euro-Nets at 4-0, while Teletovic’s Bosnia and Shengelia’s Georgia are not far behind at 3-1. Ilkan Karaman, arguably the worst Euro-Net, holds the worst record, as he and Turkey stand at 2-2.
All European Nets bring their own unique style of play to the table, and all four players, even Karaman, who has disappointed, show potential. Nets fans should be excited about the possibilities that these four players may bring, especially Teletovic, who, if he can play like he has overseas, will be a huge threat.
