Derrick Rose is one of the hottest rising sports stars on the planet. Although he tore his ACL in the playoffs, the Chicago Bulls star should return to the form that he once had. In the meantime, he is going to branch out and help move some pizzas. Yes, Rose has become an equity partner in the Chicago-based pizza company Giordano’s.
This is a pretty smart move for the company if they want to branch out. Rose is quickly becoming one of the most marketable guys on the planet. Putting him on a pizza box and having him as a way to improve the brand is a smart move. At worst, it will help sales in Chicago.
I do believe that the branch out plan to cities that have Big 10 schools is a smart move. There are a lot of kids from Chicago all over the Midwest. Trust me, I know from experience. The amount of Chicago kids in Iowa City is almost unheard of. Although it is not close to a 50/50 ratio, it pretty much seems like it.
I look forward to Rose helping this brand grow, as long as he doesn’t have to do too many commercials. I like the guy but public speaking is still something that he struggles with. His speech has improved over the years but it is still not something that a lot of people enjoy.
Look for some Rose based pizzas coming to a city near you. If it is as good as his floater, I think we are going to be just fine.
