Terrell Owens can hold a grudge with the best of’em. On the night of his introduction with his new team, the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League, he expressed built-up feelings toward the Dallas Cowboys and team owner Jerry Jones.

“I think everybody knows after the first three years, [that I wanted to retire with the Cowboys],” Owens said. “I had signed an extension and after that season I got that call or whatever, that meeting that said they wanted to part ways. Then again it was very disappointing it was one of those things where again, it’s a lot of lip service people saying they’re going to do one thing and do another.

“I’ve learned a lot within the last three to five years about life in general and even people in general. My grandmother, who passed just the beginning of the year I remember her telling me not to trust anybody because God is the only person you can trust. Man can change their mind at any given time, and it’s sad and it’s unfortunate but other than that I have to really take what she has taught me and move forward.”

Owens wanted to retire in Dallas because he was the team’s top receiver, the Cowboys were winning and the team appeared on its way up. The Cowboys cut Owens prior to the 2009 season, which led to a breakout year by Miles Austin.

Owens then said he’s not bitter toward Jerry Jones, but his comments toward the Cowboys’ owner suggest otherwise.

I’ve seen him maybe a handful of times since then, other than that, it is what it is,” Owens said. “I’m not bitter about it, at that time it was disappointing considering the stadium was about to be open and he had told me I was going to be a big part of that process and then it’s like having the wind knocked out of you. But life goes on.”

Owens just needed a place to vent after blowing $80 million and being overlooked by every single team in the NFL when he tried to make a comeback in October. He was a cancer in the Cowboys’ locker room, which had no leaders to begin with. Owens’ constant desire for the spotlight was an awful attribute for Dallas, just like every other team for which he played previously.

Whether or not you feel sorry for the guy, his own final statement comes into play here: “life goes on”. He would have retired a Cowboy had he not acted like a spoiled 4-year-old on the sideline and in the locker room. It was Owens’ own fault he was cut by Jerry Jones. Bitter or not, life goes on.
