Monday, we took a look at Dahntay Jones, Jared Cunningham and Dominique Jones and where they play a role with this Dallas Mavericks team. Now it’s time to look at #12 to #10.
#12- Rodrigue Beaubois (G)– Free Roddy B! Free Roddy B! Let me tell you something. Roddy B has had plenty of time to show his freedom here with the Mavericks. Yes, he has had some great performance in some games in the talks of scoring, but Beaubois has not been able to live up to his potential. In the past three years, his Field Goal Percentage have gone down especially his three pointers. His first year with the Mavericks he shot 40.9% from the three point land and this past year playing in 53 games he shot 28.8% from behind the arc. It is clearly that Roddy B has not been able to improve any since being with the Dallas Mavericks. His role with the Mavericks will be limited and the only reason why he is ranked #12 and not #15 is because I know that Rick Carlisle will use him more than the players that I ranked in the bottom three. I expect Beaubois to decline throughout the season and Carlisle will see that and the Mavs will end up putting him down in the D-League.
#11- Brandan Wright (F/C)– Unlike Beaubois, Wright has shown that he has a lot of potential here with the Mavericks the only thing is that the minutes that the Mavs will offer him. Last year, in 49 games, Wright shot 61.8% from the field in 16 minutes a game. He also produce over three rebounds a game and that is what the Mavericks are going to need this year and that’s rebound. This year, the Mavs are going to be more of an offense team like they were not so long ago. I do believe that Wright could be a great asset to this team, but I do know that Carlisle may not use him as much this year. If he does, Wright will have to play his A game very time he gets a chance to play to show Rick that he deserves more minutes and a possible starter role in the near future.
#10- Delonte West (G)- West will be big when he comes in as a 7th or 8th man because he can provide solid minutes. During those minutes, he will be able to provide the toughness that this team needs for this coming season. West will drive to the basket when need be and if fouled he will be able to provide the Mavericks over 85% in free throw shooting. Also, with his court attitude it will provide the Mavs that “spark” for both the players and the home crowd. If the Mavericks are able to get a high seed or a 5th seed then West will be a big part if the Mavs are wanting to get out of the first round.
