2012 NFL Playoffs: Broncos QB Tim Tebow Collects One Million Dollars if Denver Wins Super Bowl XLVII
What a year Tim Tebow has had.
First he helped to shed the label as a first-round bust, winning seven of his first eight starts, including an incredible five in the final minute of the fourth quarter/overtime.
Then he led the Broncos to a ridiculous overtime victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the wild-card round of the postseason. The win was the sixth that Tebow has delivered to Denver in the final minute this season (which absolutely has to be an NFL single-season record).
For winning the game, Tebow earned $250,000. This was part of a clause in his contract that gave him the money for a) playing in over 70 percent of the snaps this season, and b) winning a playoff game.
He will continue to earn $250,000 for each additional playoff game that he wins this season. So that’s a quarter of a million dollars if he beats the New England Patriots, a quarter of a million more if he beats Baltimore/Houston in the AFC championship game, and a quarter of a million more if he leads Denver to a victory in this year’s Super Bowl.
So that’s one million dollars if he wins the Super Bowl. One million dollars.
Unbelievable.
